Start the new year with light and charging columns that are compliant with calibration requirements

RZB ENERGY starts into the new year with a triple: the hybrid solutions for expanding e-Mobility are now also available compliant with calibration requirements in the PRO version and are thus ideal for use in all public areas. This certified compliance with calibration requirements is a particular added value for investors, operators, installers and users – also in the charging network with up to twelve charging points.

In practice, individually placed charging columns may be used, but a network of multiple charging columns is the much more common application.

With the RZB ENERGY solutions, a master-slave charging network with up to 12 charging points, which is compliant with calibration requirements , can be realised, in which only one charging column with display is required.

Compliant with calibration requirements : what does that mean?

The measurement and calibration act as well as the measurement and calibration directive defined  in the German law which requirements measuring devices such as scales, fuel pumps and also electricity meters must meet. Measured objects which are not compliant with calibration requirements  are not allowed to  be used for commercial purposes.

As charging stations for electric cars provide electricity and have a counter, they must also conform to the strict requirements of this measurement and calibration requirements  in accordance with the EU directive 2014/94/EU from  1st  April 2019, if the electricity provided is to be invoiced. This means that if charging processes (in the public sphere) are invoiced at cost, a charging station that is compliant with calibration requirements  is a must . Transparent invoicing accurate to the kilowatt hour is possible with a charging station that is compliant with calibration requirements , as the amount of electricity charged corresponds to the specified amount provided due to the calibration – this way, users can be sure how many kWh were charged during a specific period, at which time the charging process was started and ended and which counter took the measurement. A certified compliance with calibration requirements  is a prerequisite of many funding  programmes.

The milestones for compliance with calibration requirements

  1. Issue of the type examination certificate
The calibration certification is shown in Germany by the type examination certificate.. RZB ENERGY charging columns of the PRO version passed the test in accordance with module B type examination certificate by CSA Bayern Group GmbH. With this, the product structure compliant with calibration requirements  and the compliant function of the RZB ENERGY charging container are confirmed in accordance with the measurement and calibration act as well as measurement and calibration directive.

  2. Extension of ISO 9001 certification
Another milestone was achieved with the ISO 9001 certification, whose scope was extended by adding the product area of charging systems and infrastructure components for e-Mobility to the development, production and sale of luminaires and luminaire systems. This certification in turn represents the basis for the third success in this series.

  3. Passed module D certification
With the module D certification, RZB as manufacturer has a recognised quality management system for measuring instruments in accordance with EU directive 2014/32/EU as well as the measurement and calibration directive. This allows RZB to also perform relevant final inspections and sealing of the calibration requirements capsule in addition to the manufacturing of their own charging containers, thus making them independent of input from a competent authority.

With this, RZB delivers the complete solution from one source and provides its customers with intelligent and architecturally attractive solutions. With the final inspection of RZB ENERGY products already performed, the operators of charging infrastructure in particular can be pleased about significant time savings.

Compliant with calibration requirements  – also in the charging network

In practice, individually placed charging columns may be used, but a network of multiple charging columns is the much more common application. With the RZB ENERGY solutions, a master-slave charging network with up to 12 charging points, which is compliant with calibration requirements , can be realised, in which only one charging column with display is required. This means customer projects can be implemented as needed and at low cost.

The RZB Energy Portfolio is based on established light solutions Made in Bamberg, to which state-of-the-art charging technology was added. The products are configured modularly from a standpipe, a charging container available in three configuration levels and the pipe seal, i.e. a luminaire head or a cover plate. The bollard and column solutions in BASIC and SMART variants are  suitable for use in private or semi-private spheres, while the PRO variant compliant with calibration requirements  is available for the public sphere. In addition to the relevant protective devices, the energy meter and a display, the PRO variant also has an integrated overvoltage protection and the option of mobile connectivity. Calibration law-compliant solutions from RZB ENERGY are predestined in particular for hotel and gastronomy operators, mobility providers, property and parking operators as well as the public sector.
